Raffaella Lupinacci, born in Acri, is one of the most sought-after mezzosopranos of her generation.

She was selected by Alberto Zedda for the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro and, in the summer of 2012, made her debut as Marchioness Melibea in Rossini's Il Viaggio a Reims. In 2013, having established her reputation in the 64th AsLiCo competition, she made her debut singing the title role in Tancredi on Lombardia Opera circuit.
Among her first roles, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Bologna; Suzuki in Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo; Arturo in Rosmonda d’Inghilterra at the Firenze Opera and at Donizetti Opera Festival; Carlotta in Torvaldo e Dorliska at Rossini Opera Festival; Neris in Cherubini's Medea at the Wexford Festival.

In this season: Iphigénie en Tauride at Teatro Maestranza in Seville and I Grotteschi (Monteverdi Project) at Teatro La Monnaie in Bruxelles.

In July 2018 she opened the Festival della Valle d’Itria, singing in the role of Romeo in Giulietta e Romeo by Nicola Vaccaj. In the same year she was Cherubino at the Teatro Filarmonico-Arena di Verona, Dorabella at the Korea National Opera and Donna Elvira at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna.
The year 2019 opens with Mallika at the Royal Opera House Muscat, Suzuki in Madama Butterfly at the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli and her debut as Carmen at the Luglio Musicale Trapanese.
In October 2020 she sang for the first time as Giovanna Seymour in Anna Bolena at the Lietuvos Nacionalinis Operos ir Baleto Teatras in Vilnius and, in March 2021, as Leonora in La Favorita in concert form at La Monnaie-De Munt in Brussels.
In October 2021 she was Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatre Principal de Maó in Menorca.
Engagements for the 2021 - 2022 season include her role debut as Adalgisa in Norma at La Monnaie-De Munt, her theatre and role debut in Porpora's Orfeo at the Theater an der Wien and her return as Giovanna Seymour in Anna Bolena at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and at the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam.
The 2022 – 2023 season saw her debut in the role of Romeo in Capuleti e Montecchi at the Lietuvos Nacionalinis Operos ir Baleto Teatras in Vilnius. This was followed by a double performance as Giovanna Seymour and Sara in Bastarda at La Monnaie De Munt. In the summer of 2023, Lupinacci returned to the Rossini Opera Festival with her debut in the character of Arsace in Aureliano in Palmira and concluded the season with a theatre debut as Adalgisa in Norma at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.
In February-March 2024, she starred in La Cenerentola at the Staatsoper Hamburg. In May, she was Romeo in Capuleti e Montecchi at the Opera Royale de Wallonie. At the Donizetti Opera 2024, she was Sara in Roberto Devereux.

Her discography includes Donizetti's Rosmonda d'Inghilterra and Vaccaj's Giulietta e Romeo, published by Dynamic; a cameo on the CD Giulio Cesare. A baroque hero by the countertenor Raffaele Pe; Hasse’s Enea in Caonia, first world registration, published by CPO. All publications have been very well received by international critics.
