Filippo Fontana

Born in Udine, he approached music at the age of 10 through the study of ,the clarinet helding concerts, as a musician, with piano and chamber orchestra. He began to study singing with Anna Maria Bicciato and then with Enza Ferrari and at the same time graduated in Multimedia Science and Technology at the University of his city.

He attended the 2009-2011 two-year course at La Scala Academy where he made his debut as Procolo in Le convenienze ed inconvenienze teatrali, production that went on tour in Aalborg (Denmark). Always at La Scala it was Martino in the L’occasione fa il ladro of Rossini in 2010 and Taddeo in L' Italiana in Algieri in 2011.

Finalist in many competitions he won the 62° AsLiCo competition for the role of Beaupertuis in Rota's Il  ,Cappello di paglia di Firenze, a role that he performed also in the Theaters  ,of Circuito Lombardo. Following  ,his debuts at Teatro la Fenice as Batone in Rossini's L'inganno felice, in Montpellier as Belcore in L'elisir d'amore, in Pesaro as Trombonok in the Rossini Academy's Il viaggio a Reims production, in Trento as Masetto in Don  ,Giovanni, in Novara as Conte Robinson in Il matrimonio segreto and at Filarmonico di Verona as La Rocca in Un giorno di regno.

He has been collaborating with conductors such as Sergio Alapont, Andrea Battistoni, Alpesh Chauhan, Ivan  ,Fischer, Christopher Franklin, Francesco Lanzillotta, Stefano Montanari, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Stefano Ranzani, Daniele Rustioni, Lorenzo Viotti, Alberto Zedda.

He has been performing in many concerts in Italy, Spain, Russia, England, Greece and Germany accompanied among others by Vincent Scalera, James Vaughan and I cameristi della Scala.

Among his recent and  ,future engagements: Messa di Gloria of Puccini, Ben in Il telefono by Menotti,  ,Schaunard in La Bohème,  ,La bella Addormentata in Turandot in Cagliari, Don Bartolo in Il barbiere di Siviglia  ,in Pesaro for the Rossini’s celebrations at Opera di Firenze, Torvaldo  ,e Dorliska at the Festival Rossiniano of Pesaro, Roberto in Margherita ,by Foroni and Germano ,in ,La Scala di seta ,at Festival of Wexford, ,Schaunard with the Circuito Lirico Marchigiano, his debut as Lescaut  ,in Manon ,Lescaut at the Sarasota Opera where he returned as the protagonist of Il barbiere di Siviglia, Ping in Turandot and will be  ,back as Marcello in La  ,Bohème, again main role in Il Signor Bruschino at La Fenice, where he will be back as Germano in La scala di seta, Parmenione in L'occasione fa il ladro in Erl and Dandini in La cenerentola at Rome Opera, Figaro ,in Il barbiere di Siviglia at La Fenice , La vedova allegra in Trieste and Il Maestro di cappella in tournèe.
