Albert Casals
Born in Barcelona, he began his musical studies at the Escolanía de Montserrat.
Later, while pursuing a degree in telecommunications engineering, he began his vocal training with professors Xavier Torra and Joaquim Proubasta, and later with Dalmacio González, Viorica Cortez, Mariella Devia, and Carlos Chausson.
Having previously sung in professional choirs, once he embarked on his solo career, he performed in renowned venues such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro Real in Madrid, Palau de les Arts in Valencia, Maestranza in Seville, Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, Auditori de Barcelona, the Palau de la Música Catalana, Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao, and Auditorio de Zaragoza.
His operatic debut took place with Ópera de Catalunya in Il Pirata by Bellini alongside soprano Saioa Hernández. Since then, he has performed numerous leading roles, such as Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Nemorino in L’Elisir
d’Amore, Ferrando in Così fan tutte, Romeo in Roméo et Juliette, Tamino in The Magic Flute, Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, Don Carlo in Don Carlo, Alfredo in La Traviata, and Percy in Anna Bolena, among others.
Some of his performances include appearances at the Gran Teatre del Liceu: Manon by Massenet (Guillot de Montfortaine), Retablo de Maese Pedro, Pagliacci (Arlecchino), La Cenerentola, Lucia di Lammermoor (Arturo), Macbeth (Malcolm), Hamlet (Marcellus), La Gata Perduda, The Magic Flute… Anna Bolena in Trieste and Lleida (part of the Gran Teatre del Liceu tour), Die Fledermaus and Lucia di Lammermoor in Oviedo, La Traviata in Ulsan (Korea). At the Teatro Real in Madrid, he stood out as Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi in a production by Woody Allen, as well as Fenton in Falstaff, among many other performances at the same theater. Also remarkable his portrayal of Percy in Anna Bolena with Mariella Devia.
