Elisa Balbo
Italian soprano Elisa Balbo graduated cum laude at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan. She has since appeared in internationally renowned theatres and festivals such as Enescu Festival, Arena di Verona, Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, Wiener Konzerthaus in Wien, Ravenna Festival, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Teatro Bellini in Catania, Tokyo Bunka Mura, the International Music Hall in Moscow, the Grand Rubinstein Rimskij-Korsakov Theatre in Saint Petersburg, Rossini in Wildbad Festival, Ljubjana Festival, Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, La Fenice in Venice. Balbo’s vocal and stylistic versatility allowed her to sing a vast repertoire that includes, among others, Rossini (Maometto II, Moïse, Tancredi, Petite Messe Solennelle, Stabat Mater),Mozart (Susanna ne Le nozze di Figaro, Requiem), Schumann (Margherita in Scene dal Faust), Verdi (Otello, Alice in Falstaff),Puccini (Mimì e Musetta ne La Bohème, Liù in Turandot), Bizet (Micaela in Carmen), Leoncavallo (Pagliacci), Giordano (Siberia), Gomez (Contessa ne Lo schiavo) Lehár (Hanna ne La vedova allegra), Bernstein (Trouble in Tahiti). Balbo has worked with eminent ,conductors, Riccardo Muti among them. Opera recordings include Rossini's Maometto II and Moïse for Naxos, Gomes' Lo schiavo for Dynamic.
In 2022, she released her firstchamber music solo album, Lunaria, with pianist Michele D'Elia, for Illiria.
His recent and future engagements include La bohème at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Turandot at Teatro Bellini in Catania, Gala with Riccardo Muti in Ravenna and Busseto and Armida in La Valletta.
